Tien Bui has 18 years of work experience in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry. Ms. Bui has been extensively involved in all aspects of drug and technology commercialization. Prior to starting her own consulting firm Biozen Consulting in December 2007, Ms. Bui served as an executive member of Monogram Biosciences (formerly Virologic, Inc.) in the roles of Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Vice President of Medical Affairs and Education for Virology and Oncology. In her 7 years at Monogram Biosciences, Ms. Bui started her first specialty sales force in HIV and was in charge of all commercial functions including payer relations, client services, medical marketing, clinical affairs & education and launched 3 new state-of-the-art technologies. She was responsible for increasing Monogram’s revenue by 25 fold and more importantly established genotypic and phenotypic resistance testing as a standard of care in the HIV community through lobbying efforts and clinical education. Before joining Monogram, Ms. Bui served in various commercial, health policy and strategic product development roles at DuPont and DuPont-Merck Pharmaceuticals from 1990 to 2000. She was instrumental in the pre-commercialization strategy and successful launch of Sustiva.
Biozen Consulting currently has numerous biotech and pharmaceutical clients who are developing HIV and HCV compounds. These projects encompass strategic and business planning, product development and medical marketing, corporate branding, and market analysis. In addition to her consulting practice, Ms. Bui also serves as an Advisor for the National Institutes of Health-Commercial Assistance Program (NIH-CAP) where she mentors 5-7 early stage companies on various strategic commercial issues and investor relations.
Ms. Bui serves as a volunteer Board Member for the Asian Pacific Islander Wellness Center in San Francisco serving Asians whose mission is to educate, support, empower and advocate for Asian communities particularly those living with, or at-risk for, HIV/AIDS.
